From the East

February 4th, 2009

Brethren,
We are now moving into our second month of the year and there is a lot going on. Lets see if we can’t get a better turnout for our February meeting, as opposed to what we had in January. A Fellow Craft degree is coming up on February 23rd. This is for our two candidates in waiting that have completed the EA degree in December. Read the rest of this entry »

The Regius Poem

January 25th, 2009

Here what Wikipedia, the internet encyclopedia, says about the Regius Poem:

The Halliwell Manuscript, also known as the Regius Poem, is the first known Masonic text. It consists of 64 written pages in poetic form. The poem begins by evoking Euclid and his invention of geometry in ancient Egypt and then the spreading of the art of geometry in “divers lands.” This is followed by fifteen points for the master concerning both moral behaviour (do not harbour thieves, do not take bribes, attend church regularly, etc.) and the operation of work on a building site (do not make your masons labour at night, teach apprentices properly, do not take on jobs that you cannot do etc.). There are then fifteen points for craftsmen which follow a similar pattern. Read the rest of this entry »

From the East

January 7th, 2009

Brethren, Salutations! And welcome to the year 2009. My favorite saying is: “the only real constant in the universe is change.” As you all should know Amwell lodge has a new Worshipful Master (me). It’s my very first time at bat in the East, so please be kind. We also have a new lineup for the lodge officers (see the revised list on the back page of this Trestle- Board.)

From the East

December 8th, 2008

It has been a very exciting year for me, being master once again was a pleasure and I would like to thank the brethren for their support. This year we brought in some new Masons and right now we are working on two more. This is great!

We have our annual communication and election of officers on the 10th of December, also the open installation of Bro. Jay Ross will be held on December 21st at 6:00 P.M., with a dinner before the installation. R.W. James Ross will be performing the installation. I hope to see a large crowd as this is huge event at Amwell Lodge, as this marks a the first of list of new masters for years to come, starting with Bro. Jay Ross.

Please don’t forget the Christmas party on the 13th at 2:00 pm Santa will have gifts for the children.

I hope everyone has a great Christmas and a very happy New Year.

God Bless
