May Tresleboard

May 10th, 2010

From the East

We had an excellent EA degree in April for 4 candidates (I mean new Brothers). All the Amwell members can be proud of the degree that your officers put on. It was exemplary, and we owe that to Brother Coleman for his superb instruction. I also want to thank Brother DeBlieu for doing such a great job from the East. We have one new member to vote on in May, P T O once your committee reports favorably. We voted to elect B H as a dual member in April, so congratulations to B

We will be doing the EA examination May 31. We will also be doing the EA degree very early in June to bring in our two newest members. I hope to have the FC degree in late June but will have more on that in the June trestle board.

See you all in Lodge.

Fraternally,

Donald W. Murray, WM Amwell Lodge #12 F&AM

Tresleboard March

February 27th, 2010

From the East

There is another knock at the door.  We have four new members waiting for the EA degree, and we will vote on another new member in March to make it five.  We had a good increase in membership last year and it is continuing this year.  We also elected four brothers to dual membership (R A V, R B S, L M C & D C P).  We will be voting on Brother J G for dual membership in March.  It is shaping up to be a good year.

Fraternally,

Donald W. Murray, WM Amwell Lodge #12 F&AM

Tresleboard February

January 27th, 2010

Greetings From The East

We hit the ground running in 2010, and it looks like it will be a very busy year.  We’re halfway into January and have already had our stated meeting and DLI at Amwell.  The officers performed exceptionally at both.  We have 5 petitions and 4 dual members to vote on at our February meeting.  These new candidates will keep us busy with degree work over the next several months. September Trestleboard

September 27th, 2009

Brethren, welcome back from the summer!

I trust you all had a good break, and are ready to get back to business. For me July and August went by far too quickly. But then again it always does every year.  A number of items has come to me by way of Grand Lodge, and have been added to the package you have just received with this Trestle Board. Brethren,

There is a lot of information that I want to pass on to our membership so for at least for this month I have broken it all down by categories.

From the East

May 10th, 2009

Brethren, here is the lineup for the month of May:

May 11 is our Grand Lodge of Instruction for the 15th district. ALL Amwell officers must be in attendance. Those members of the lodge who are not officers are most welcome to attend this function (and should). The GLI will be held at Gothic Lodge 270. If anyone needs directions to Gothic give me a call. If possible we should try to car pool from Lambertville. Let’s try to reduce our carbon footprint. We need to leave this planet in better shape for our children’s children… Read the rest of this entry »

Dear Brethren,

As I came across a recent column from the NY Times this morning (see link), I realized that as our modern societies move away from the “bookish way philosophy is conceived by most people” and closer to a “dominance of [an] emotional approach of morality”, the traditional way of Freemasonry teaching reveals all its modernity.

April Trestleboard

March 28th, 2009

Brethren,

We have been doing well in terms of attracting new membership to the
Lodge. We have so far 2 candidates working through their degrees from last
year, 2 new petitions accepted for membership, 2 petitions with
investigation committees, and potentially 3 more petitions to be submitted
by May. Not bad! It also means a lot of degree work coming up for us. This
will be a good time for the current officers to take a much larger role in
the degree work, and give our “veterans” a breather for a change. Lets talk
about this during our up coming ritual practices. As I see it at the moment,
the degree work breaks out in the following manner:

March Trestleboard

March 4th, 2009

We are all now living in a time where there is clearly economic adversity and uncertainty for our people, our nation, and the rest of the world. The pressure this is placing on all of us may give way to a tendency of being a little less civil, and a little more abrupt in our dealings with other people. Read the rest of this entry »
